Job description
Compass Group India is looking for an experienced and responsible Assistant Manager – Food & Beverage Operations for its Gurugram location. The selected candidate will be responsible for managing day-to-day catering and food service operations, maintaining service quality, supervising operational staff and ensuring a high level of client and customer satisfaction. The Assistant Manager will coordinate closely with the kitchen, service, store, housekeeping, HR and client teams to ensure smooth operations at the assigned site. The candidate should have strong leadership, communication, team-handling and problem-solving skills, along with practical knowledge of corporate catering or hospitality operations. Key responsibilities will include supervising the daily food service, deploying manpower according to operational requirements, preparing duty rosters, conducting team briefings and ensuring that all employees follow grooming, hygiene and service standards. The candidate will also be responsible for monitoring food quality, presentation, portion control, service timing and customer feedback. The role requires regular coordination with chefs and kitchen teams for menu planning, special events, meal requirements and customer preferences. The candidate should be able to handle client meetings, resolve customer complaints professionally and take corrective action whenever service-related issues arise. The Assistant Manager will monitor inventory levels, food consumption, wastage, stock movement and material requirements. The candidate will coordinate with the store and purchase teams to ensure that required materials are available without affecting daily operations. Knowledge of cost control, inventory management and food wastage reduction will be an added advantage. The selected candidate will also maintain important operational records such as attendance, duty rosters, consumption reports, customer feedback, hygiene checklists, training records, inventory reports and daily or monthly management reports. The candidate may also be required to support internal, client and food safety audits. The candidate must ensure compliance with company SOPs, client requirements, food safety guidelines, hygiene standards and applicable statutory requirements. Regular employee training should be conducted on customer service, workplace safety, grooming, hygiene and food handling practices. Applicants should preferably hold a Degree or Diploma in Hotel Management, Hospitality Management, Food and Beverage Management or a related field. Candidates with relevant experience in corporate catering, hotels, restaurants, cafeterias or institutional food services may also apply. Candidates should preferably have approximately 2 to 4 years of relevant experience, including experience in a supervisory or managerial position. Experience in handling large teams, corporate clients, high-volume meal operations and multiple service counters will be preferred. The candidate should possess good communication skills in English and Hindi, basic knowledge of MS Excel and reporting, and the ability to work under pressure. The applicant should be comfortable working in rotational shifts, weekends or holidays according to operational requirements.
